Double joy for Christmas shoppers

0

Come to Omskirk to do your Christmas shopping in December take advantage of a fabulous festive parking offer and an extra Christmas market.

In the run up to Christmas the Council has organised for the usual Ormskirk market stalls to operate on an extra day, Wednesday 21 December 2016 so shoppers have an extra opportunity to buy gifts and festive essentials.

Normal operating hours for the market are 8am-4pm. However, shoppers should be aware that the market may finish early on Saturday 24 December 2016 and Saturday 31 December 2016.

Right up until Saturday 24 December 2016 shoppers can save money when using West Lancashire Borough Council’s car parks in Ormskirk. Visitors who buy a pay and display ticket will receive an additional two hours’ free parking. This special offer applies only to Council-controlled pay and display car parks, and does not extend to the privately owned and operated Two Saints Retail Park car park. So users or motorists should ensure they read car park signage, and a valid paid-for parking ticket must be displayed to take advantage of the offer. Any parking tickets issued free of charge do not qualify for the additional two hours free parking.

Councillor John Hodson, whose Cabinet portfolio responsibilities include the market, said: “This excellent festive parking offer shows once again how the Council offers really good value for money. When combined with the extra market, it helps to make Ormskirk a great place to come this festive season. So make sure you come into town to do your Christmas shopping, and also enjoy one of the many coffee shops, restaurants and bars that the town has to offer.”

Motorists should note that the two extra free hours will not be shown on the pay and display parking ticket purchased from a machine on a Council-controlled car park. So, for example, if you buy a ticket at 10am for one hour’s parking the ticket will still show an expiry time of 11am. But, during the special offer period, you will be able to park until 1pm. Notices explaining the offer will be on display at the Council-controlled car parks. All car park attendants are aware of the offer and will allow for the extra two hours after the indicated ticket expiry time.
