Families can enjoy a fantastic day out and uncover a host of fairy stories at Ormskirk’s free Christmas of Tales event on Sunday 24 November.
Ormskirk town centre will host a feast of fun between midday and 6pm, with the Christmas Lights being switched on at 5pm.
At approximately 1pm a special guest will awake and fly through town as Ormskirk welcomes Tozi the Christmas Flamingo and the Lantern Company’s storytellers, who will tell stories from Ormskirk’s Christmas of Tales. Tozi will re-appear Iater in the day, and children can dress up in their favourite fairy-tale theme.
Father Christmas will visit the Chapel Gallery, which will open midday-6pm, to hear children’s Christmas wishes.
Families can shop for handcrafted gifts at the Gallery’s festive market. More fabulous stalls will be around the Clock Tower and shoppers can also browse Ormskirk’s permanent retail gems, including its independent stores.
Throughout the day much-loved entertainer Mr Stix will delight children. Magic Story Jars will bring stories to life, concocting jars of tales for families to take home. Silcocks are providing children’s funfair rides.
From 2pm great onstage entertainment will begin with Onyx Dance Troupe, and Base Dance and Skelmersdale Prize Band will perform. Crowds can enjoy watching them as the party atmosphere grows before singing along to Christmas classics with the Rock Choir and pop favourites with the Abba Now tribute act. The traditional carol service will start at 4.30pm, then the town will shine even brighter as the festive lights are switched on at 5pm.
Parking is free on Council Car Parks on Sundays, and train and bus stations a stone’s throw from the magic, it couldn’t be easier to get Ormskirk’s Christmas of Tales so don’t miss this fantastic event.
The fairytale theme continues in Ormskirk until 8 December with six locations showcasing animations with a creative twist on traditional stories. These include ‘Little Folk Should Lock Their Doors’ starring Little Red Riding Hood and the three little pigs.
