Digital switch affects register office service


A switch to a new digital system means that on-the-spot copies – or the standard two day turnaround for some birth, death and marriage certificates – will be temporarily unavailable for people calling at St Helens Register Office from 16 February.

Callers will be advised on arrival and, if necessary, directed to an online application at www.gro.gov.uk. Alternatively a telephone order can be made on 0300 123 1837 until the end of April 2015.

Registrars will be able to advise customers if their certificate is one that is not available during this time. The switch does not affect recent registrations of births, deaths, marriages or civil partnerships.

The council apologises for any inconvenience caused.
