Cyclist and pedestrian collide in Chorley


A pensioner is in a serious condition following a collision in Chorley last night (Friday, May 4th).

It happened at around 6:30pm on Cowling Brow near to the Prince of Wales Public House as a cyclist, 27, has been travelling along the road and a woman, 88, walking.

As the collision happened, the pedestrian has hit the ground and has ended up with head, chest and pelvic injuries. She is in a serious condition at Royal Preston Hospital.

Sgt Phil Baxendale from the Road Policing Unit said: “We need any witnesses to come forward and speak to us as you could have important information that could assist with our enquiries.”

The road was closed for around three hours whilst an investigation got underway.
