Come and enjoy the fantastic Green Fayre

0

West Lancashire’s premier countryside event the Green Fayre returns to Beacon Country Park on 20 and 21 July, and this fantastic free to enter extravaganza has something for everyone.

The fayre is open 11am-5pm each day and the many exciting attractions include West Lancashire Dog Display Team providing a masterclass in canine obedience and agility.

Horus Birds of Prey display team will take to the skies and wow the crowds with breath-taking aerial acrobatics.

Completing the display line-up will be Regia Anglorum, the Fayre’s resident Viking hoard who will give visitors an insight into the daily drills of a Viking warrior before battling ferociously in a last-man standing tournament.

As always the beating heart of the Fayre remains with the wonderful Working Woodland area, which will feature a wide range of local craftsfolk exhibiting both modern and contemporary green woodworking skills. Visitors will have the chance to take a really close look at a variety of traditional machinery and see how woodlands can be sustainably-worked to produce all kinds of tools and everyday items.

The craft and lifestyle marquee will house a number of community groups and organisations and there will be a range of craft and confectionery items available to buy.

There’s plenty more for people to enjoy, including a full programme of music in the food and music marquee where there will also be a range of catering options available to visitors.

For younger visitors there is the petting farm to see and plenty of other fun activities for them to try out and take part in, including climbing, shooting, archery, inflatables, fairground rides and donkey rides to name but a few.

The Green Fayre is organised by West Lancashire Borough Council’s Parks and Countryside Ranger Service.

Councillor Yvonne Gagen, portfolio holder for Leisure, said: “The Green Fayre is a wonderful free annual event bursting with activities for all the family. It will be fantastic to see the beautiful Beacon Country Park come alive with such a wide variety of local people and organisations celebrating the countryside, so don’t miss this fabulous free festival.”
