Children’s TV favourite Justin Fletcher is heading to Warrington’s Golden Square Shopping Centre to switch on the Christmas lights.

The CBeebies star, whose shows include Something Special with Mr Tumble, Justin’s House and Gigglebiz, will be lighting up the town on Thursday November 12 at 6pm.

They will be joined on stage by Britain’s Got Talent girl band Misstasia who will be performing a medley of Disney tunes plus leading a singalong of Christmas favourites. Due to popular demand the Warrington Wolves players will be back on stage, helping to make this year’s event really special.

Also making an appearance will be Santa and his Elves, while the cast of this year’s Pyramid and Parr Hall’s pantomime Dick Whittington will be performing an extract from their show.

Thousands are expected to fill the centre’s Old Market Square for the big count-down by the switch on by Justin.

Justin said: “I love Christmas, it’s such a lovely time of year for families and lots of fun for everybody. I am honoured to be asked to switch on the Christmas Lights at Golden Square Shopping Centre and I am looking forward to seeing the centre lit up and enjoying the magical atmosphere.

“I am hoping that lots of youngsters and their families will join me at Golden Square for the big countdown on November 12, as it’s promising to be fun-filled evening of entertainment.”

The centre will be offering free parking all day with stores open until 9pm.

Golden Square Shopping Centre director Ian Cox said: “Once again we are pulling out the stops to ensure Christmas kicks off in style for Warrington.

“There’s something for everybody – Justin is the biggest star on children’s TV right now, so we are expecting a large turn out in Old Market Square. We are encouraging people to come along early to ensure they can get in.

“With free parking and extra late-night opening until 9pm, Golden Square is going to be very busy on November 12.

“We have lots more lined up to celebrate the festivities, with Old Market Square transformed into a Christmas Village selling a host of Christmas presents and foods from November 19 to December 23. Our giant reindeer will be back as well.

“Plus we have a very special treat with Santa and his Elves this year – we’ll be revealing details on this very soon – and there’s a Christmas Lantern parade in December.

“Our retailers are all now getting ready for Christmas shoppers, with lots of bargains expected on Black Friday, November 27, when we are open from 8am until 8pm, with free parking all day.”
