Charity event at Rufford Old Hall

A fantastic line up of fabulous musical acts has been organised for a great charity concert at Rufford Old Hall.

The Mayor of West Lancashire’s Charity Committee is organising the ‘Celebrating West Lancashire’ event in the park at the Old Hall on Saturday, 5 September from 3pm-8pm.

There will be a wide range of musical entertainment at the event, including opera singer Lisa Tatler, crooner David Ashley and boy rock band Sluge. The Skelmersdale Singers choir are performing along with guitarist Thomas Wharton, Georgia Gagen, who sings a mixture of ballads and up-tempo songs, and three young performers from CD Music of Rufford. Dancers from Divine Days and Lancashire Youth Performing Arts will also take the stage. Variety act Jess Hill will also be showing off her fire eating and stilt walking skills to entertain the crowds.

All proceeds from the concert will go to the Mayor’s charities, which are Lancashire Young Carers, which is funded by Barnardo’s, Lancashire County Council and local health authorities, and the Alzheimer’s Society in West Lancashire.

Councillor Nikki Hennessy, Mayor of West Lancashire, said: “I am really pleased that so many talented acts are giving up their time to perform to help raise money for these two very worthy causes. They are all from West Lancashire which is in keeping with our theme of celebrating West Lancashire.”

There will be lots of craft stalls celebrating what West Lancashire has to offer, and fun for all the family with face painting and many more attractions.

So why not bring your own picnic, and tables and chairs and blankets and enjoy a great afternoon of entertainment. Tickets are £8 for adults. Children can get in for free but must be accompanied by an adult.

Tickets are available from Ann England at West Lancashire Borough Council on 01695 585033 or e-mail ann.england@westlancs.gov.uk. Or you can pay at the gate on the day.

Organisers would like to thank John K Phillips from St Helens Haulage for providing the stage.
