Chance to hear new health proposals

Sefton residents are being invited to an event to hear about proposals on the future of orthopaedic services.

Healthwatch Sefton, the local health and social care consumer champion, is holding a session on Friday, September 8, to ensure everyone is aware of proposals for orthopaedic services and how they will be delivered in the future. It will also be a chance for people to get their questions answered.

The two hour session will be held at St Stephen’s Church Hall, 3 Hester Close, Hightown, Liverpool, L38 0BP. People are welcome to arrive from 10am for pastries, tea and coffee with the event starting at 10.30am and finishing at 12.30pm.

The session will allow residents an opportunity to hear more about proposals for a single orthopaedics service for Liverpool’s hospitals. The clinicians behind the proposals will share their thinking and people will have an opportunity to ask questions about the proposal.

Under proposals, orthopaedics specialists at Aintree University Hospital NHS Foundation Trust and the Royal Liverpool & Broadgreen University Hospitals NHS Trust would join together to become a single team, working across all three hospital sites.

This would involve separating most planned and unplanned orthopaedics care onto separate hospital sites, which would mean some operations taking place in a different place to where they do currently.

Healthwatch Sefton wants to make sure Sefton residents are fully aware of the plans which will impact on the future delivery of services, so people are encouraged to book a place at the session by emailing info@healthwatchsefton.co.uk, calling FREEPHONE 0800 206 1304 or texting 07434 810438. Places are limited so early booking is recommended.

If you are not able to attend the session, people can still share their thoughts about the proposal by:-

  • Taking a short survey – visit www.healthyliverpool.nhs.uk
  • If online isn’t your thing you can request a paper copy of the summary leaflet and questionnaire by contacting involvement@liverpoolccg.nhs.uk or call 0151 296 7537 and information will be sent to you, which you can return via a freepost envelope provided.

Further details about the proposals can be found on the Healthwatch Sefton website: www.healthwatchsefton.co.uk
