Call for sites

0

There is still time for you to tell West Lancs Council about any land in the borough that might be suitable for development in the future.

West Lancashire Borough Council is undertaking a ‘Call for Sites’ exercise as part of its on-going strategic planning work. This includes a new study called a Strategic Housing and Employment Land Availability Assessment.  The Council would like to hear about sites in the borough of West Lancashire that could possibly be used for housing, business, employment land, Traveller accommodation, retail, commercial uses, or for people to build their own homes.

People have until 9 September 2016 to suggest land which they believe could make an appropriate development site in the future. The Council will consider all sites received that are in the borough of West Lancashire. It will look at such things as their capacity, risk from flooding, and other constraints, and will endeavour to make a judgment about their suitability for development, and potential timescales.

Details of suggested sites must be submitted on the official ‘Call for sites’ form. This is available until Friday 9 September 2016 on the Council’s website www.westlancs.gov.uk/callforsites, from the Council offices at 52 Derby Street, Ormskirk, or can be requested by phoning 01695 585284 or sending an email to localplan@westlancs.gov.uk.

If you have submitted a site within the borough for consideration in the last couple of years you don’t need to resubmit the same site, unless you have new information which would help the Council to re-appraise the site, as it will be automatically considered.

Councillor John Hodson, Portfolio Holder for Planning, said: “We have already had a good response to our Call for sites exercise but there is still time for you to suggest land in the borough of West Lancashire that you think should be considered for development. Please let the Council know by completing the official ‘Call for sites’ form which will be available until Friday 9 September 2016.  The process will help us as we plan for the future and keep our Local Plan background information up to date.

“Of course, we must stress that putting a site forward in this exercise is not a guarantee that the Council will subsequently allocate it or support its development in the future.  All sites will need to be judged against relevant planning policies and other considerations.”
