Skelmersdale United will face Widnes on Boxing Day at the Burscough Community Stadium, kick off 3pm, it will be, hopefully the first game for a number of weeks due to the current cold spell, it will also be the first chance that the supporters will get to see new signings Stephen Milne & Kieran Holsgrove who have both joined the club recently, MIlne comes with a proven track record with goals for his previous clubs Bootle, Rylands and Lower Breck, whilst Hosgrove, has been on the books of both West Brom & Watford.
It will be a home game for United but in conjunction with the Charity Shelter, both clubs will be wearing changed colours.
Richard Brodie commented “it will be good to get back playing, we have been training hard, even in these cold conditions, the two new lads will add a bit of experience to the side, especially going forward. I would also like to thank the supporters for their continued backing of the club and from me and the players wish everyone a very merry Christmas and hope we can make it a really good one by picking up 3 points on Boxing Day”.
SHELTER
Home stadium. Home colours. Home game. The football community knows the importance of home. But this year, thousands of people will be spending Christmas; in dingy hostels, on friends’ sofas, or even sleeping in freezing cars. This is something we can’t ignore.
This Christmas, we’re making a stand. Clubs and fans up and down the football pyramid are taking part in #NoHomeKit; swapping their home colours for an away or third kit to raise money and make sure everyone in the UK has access to a safe, secure and affordable place to call home.
