Local arts people are being encouraged to enter Astley Hall’s Biennial Art Competition this year which runs from Saturday 15 September – Sunday 11 November.

The competition allows local artists to have their artwork on display in Astley Hall’s Art Gallery and there will be two award categories, with the prize being a joint exhibition in 2019.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader at Chorley Council said: “We host an Art Competition at Astley Hall every other year and it’s a great way to celebrate the artistic talents of the borough.

“We always have so many amazing pieces on display and it’s a great way for people to make their artwork seen by other people.

“We’ll be offering the two winners of the competition a joint exhibition in Astley Hall next year which is a great prize and a chance for the winners to show off their works of art.

“We hope to see plenty of people entering the competition this year and we can’t wait to see the fantastic displays.”

To take part in Astley Hall’s Biennial Art Competition, entrants must live or work in the Chorley borough or must be part of a local art group.

Entrants are limited to a maximum of two works of art up to A2 size (roughly 23″x16″), or one work of art if it is larger than this.

To enter, please call 01257 515928 or email rory.macdonald@chorley.gov.uk to arrange for a day to deliver your artwork to Astley Hall. The deadline to enter is Monday 27 August and delivery of artwork can be arranged for the following dates; Saturday 1, Sunday 2 or Monday 3 September.

There will be two award categories; the Judges Award and the People’s Choice Award.

Artwork for the competition will be displayed from Saturday 15 September – Sunday 11 November in Astley Hall’s Art Gallery.
