Families are being urged to make their way to Astley Hall this summer for an exciting exhibition all about space and science fiction.

Chorley Council is once again hosting a fantastic exhibition this summer which will run from Saturday 4 August – Sunday 2 September.

The authority is working with Vivacity Peterborough to bring this otherworldly exhibition to Astley Hall’s Art Gallery.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: “We’re very excited to be providing such a unique exhibition in Astley Hall for our residents and visitors.

“The Space: Fact and Fiction exhibition will make a brilliant day out for families and be of great interest to so many people, especially sci-fi fans.

“There will be a lot of interesting displays for people to look at and visitors can even take a look at the rest of the Hall whilst they’re there.

“To make a day of it, visitors can also explore the parks grounds and enjoy a bite to eat and a drink in Café Ambio.”

Space: Fact and Fiction is a great exhibition for the whole family exploring how early science fiction writers were way ahead of their time and that real-world science is often having to catch up to sci-fi.

Commissioned to mark Major Time Peake’s first visit to the International Space Station, this exhibition combines sci-fi with science fact to really get you thinking about what is out there and how we can reach it.

The exhibition has some exciting displays and information including; space travel, time travel, alien life, a replica of the Star Trek Next Generation costume, a deluxe quality Storm Trooper Costume, a 1960s replica police box and much more.

The exhibition is open from Saturday 4 August – Sunday 2 September, 12pm-4.30pm Saturday – Wednesday in Astley Hall’s Art Gallery.

Tickets will be available to purchase on the door. Entry fees are; Adults – £3, Children (aged 6-15) – £1.50, age under 5 – free and a family ticket (up to 2 adults and 2 children) – £7.
