Appeal after man shot in leg in Skelmersdale


Lancashire Police are appealing for information after a man was shot in the leg in Skelmersdale last night (Sunday, September 6th).

Police were called at around 9.30pm to reports a gunshot had been heard in the Ennerdale area.

Emergency services attended and found a man in his 20s at a nearby address with a wound to his leg, believed to have come from a shotgun. He was taken to hospital for treatment. Thankfully at this time his injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

An investigation is now underway.

DI Jason Richardson, of Skelmersdale CID, said: “We understand that incidents like this are concerning for the community and we would like to reassure people that we have a team of officers working on finding who was responsible.

“We will remain in the area speaking to people as part of our investigation and to offer reassurance to residents.

“We would now urge anybody with concerns or information to contact us as soon as possible.”
