An investigation is underway after a boy was attacked by a dog in Skelmersdale

An investigation is underway after a five year old boy was attacked by a dog in Skelmersdale.

Police were contacted by the ambulance service at shortly before 5.30pm yesterday (Thursday, March 2nd) to an address on Firbeck in Skelmersdale to a report that a five year old boy had been attacked by a family dog.

Emergency services treated the boy for his injuries at the scene before he was taken by ambulance to Alder Hey Hospital where he is now in a stable condition.

The dog, an American Bulldog type, was secured inside the address and has now been destroyed. The dog owner is cooperating fully with the police.

An investigation into the full circumstances is continuing.

  1. Firstly id like to state, i hope the boy is alright and it is a horrific thing to happen, but Dogs and other animals aren’t “destroyed” they’re put down.
