A series of new walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinics in West Lancashire have been announced.
More people will be able to receive a vaccine in their local community as the NHS, GP Practices and West Lancashire Borough Council ensure as many people as possible in the area are protected against the virus.
Walk-in clinics started at Tanhouse Community Centre in Skelmersdale last week and have proven a huge success, with residents in other areas such as Hesketh Bank and Parbold being able to receive a jab in their local community.
The clinics are offering both first and second doses of the Pfizer and AstraZeneca vaccines, with second doses made available to those who had their first at least eight weeks prior.
Bookings are not required for any of the pop-up sites or vaccine bus and vaccines are available to anyone who is 18 or over.
Emma Robinson, COVID-19 vaccination programme manager for NHS West Lancashire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), said: “We have been encouraged by uptake for our pop up clinics and are pleased to be able to extend our pop up clinic offer, giving residents of West Lancashire even more opportunity to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
“It has been a true team effort between GPs, local authority and CCG staff and volunteers, as well as community leaders and those who have allowed us to use their venues.
“If you are 18 or over, please come forward to one of our clinics to receive either your first dose or the booster second dose, which gives you stronger and longer-lasting protection against the virus. You do not need an appointment and we have made every effort to reach out to residents across every area of West Lancashire.”
