How would you like to watch one of Shakespeare’s most popular and best loved comedies, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, in the beautiful grounds of Knowsley Hall this summer?
The Lord Chamberlain’s Men have been regular visitors to Knowsley Hall, performing magnificent Shakespearean plays to packed audiences on beautiful summer evenings. And this year is a special one, with the theatre company celebrating their 15th birthday as well as 425 years since the original company was started.
The all-male cast dress will be dressed in the finest Elizabethan costume acting the enchanted play out in the open air – just as performers would in Shakespearean time. Don’t miss out on experiencing an amazing Shakespearian play with an authentic feel.
If you don’t know the tale, A Midsummer Night’s Dream surrounds four young lovers at war who flee to an enchanted forest where fairies and sprites rule. While they hope for their true loves’ course to be set straight, they find themselves caught in the cross fire of a fairy king and queen, and dealing with magical juice of a plant. When it’s dropped on a sleeping person’s eyes, they fall in love with the first creature they see when they wake up. Also, the Duke of Athens and Amazon queen’s wedding celebrations are coming up, and Arthenian tradesmen are planning to perform a play!
You’re welcome to make the most of this experience and bring a picnic to enjoy. You can also bring your own low backed seat or rug/blanket.
The performance takes place at Knowsley Hall on Thursday 8 August at 7.30pm and is expected to finish at 9.45pm
Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for children. There is also a family ticket offer for £45 which is for two adults and two children. A £2 postage fee also applies to bookings.
