Detectives are appealing for information after a 35-year-old woman was brutally attacked by a group of men in Preston.

Around 9.20pm on Friday, April 29, the victim was walking on Fletcher Road close to the junction of Deepdale Mill Street when she was approached by a male.

Following a brief conversation, the man grabbed the woman from behind and held her around the neck before three more men appeared.

Each man took turns in kicking, punching and stamping on the victim, before running away from the scene.

The 35-year-old suffered a fractured arm, bruising to her face and body and was taken to Royal Preston Hospital for treatment.

The first male is described as white, of slim build, with hair swept across his head. He was believed to be wearing a black bomber jacket, black skinny jeans and black Vans trainers

No description is available of the other three men.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would ask anyone with information to come forward.

Det Con Darren Caunce, of Preston CID, said: “This was a particularly savage and brutal assault which left a 35-year-old woman badly injured.

“The victim received extensive bruising to her face and body, along with a severely fractured arm, wounds all consistent with being stamped, kicked and punched.

“This was a cowardly attack by the men involved and the severity of the attack is shocking.

“We would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who recognises the description of the first attacker, as well as anyone who saw a group of men in the Fletcher Road and Deepdale Mill Street area around the time of the assault

“Any information, even if passed on anonymously, will help with our enquiries.

“Anyone who can help is asked to contact police on 101 quoting crime reference SA1605637.”

Alternatively, Crimestoppers can be contacted anonymously on 0800 555111 or online at crimestoppers-uk.org.
