Witness appeal made following sexual assault in Runcorn

An appeal for witnesses has been made by Cheshire Police following reports of a sexual assault in Runcorn. The incident is believed to have taken place at approximately 2:40pm on Friday 23rd January in Town Park, off Lodge Lane in Runcorn.

The victim, a 16 year old girl from Runcorn, had been walking along the footpath near to the pond close to the entrance of Town Park, when a man approached her from behind who sexually assaulted her.

The offender has been described as being a white man, in his late teens, approximately 5ft 8in tall, with a slim build, with short black hair, stubble and a slim face. At the time of the incident the man had been wearing a black zip up waterproof jacket, blue jeans with dark high ankle coloured boots. The man had also been wearing a scarf around his neck, which had been tucked into his jacket, along with a black backpack.

Detective Constable Justin Jones said ‘We treat all reports of sexual assaults extremely seriously and I urge anyone with any information about this case to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 598 of 23/1/2015.’
