Volunteers sought for Sankey Valley Country Park litter pick

They say many hands make light work, so why not join St Helens Council’s Rangers next week as they look to tidy up the borough’s parks and open spaces.

Next Tuesday (11 September), the team has arranged a litter pick around Sankey Valley Country Park where they will look to remove as much rubbish as possible.

Encouraging residents to take part, St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Better Neighbourhoods, Councillor Lynn Clarke, said:

“We’re lucky to have so many beautiful parks and open spaces in our borough which visitors should be able to enjoy without coming across eyesores such as litter.

“Our Rangers do a fantastic job of maintaining our parks, but to ensure all ground is covered when it comes to removing litter, it’s always good to see the public and community groups show great pride and spirit by offering their time to help out, which is hugely appreciated in return.”

The litter pick event will take place between 10:00am-12:00pm and anyone interested in taking part is asked to meet at the Sankey Valley Heritage Visitor Centre just before 10:00am.

Litter pickers and bin bags will be provided; participants are just asked to bring along their own gloves and wear suitable footwear.
