Get Online Week is back, helping people to get the most out of digital.

Have a crack at coding, learn some basic online skills and have endless hours of fun in libraries across Wigan Borough to get the most out of digital for Get Online Week!

Libraries across Wigan and Leigh are providing a host of enriching digital sessions for free from Monday 2nd October, with coding for pre-schoolers, online drop-in sessions, creative coding and even a video making skills workshop, all culminating in Wigan Library’s first ever Fun Palace on Saturday 7th October.

Alison McKenzie-Folan, deputy chief executive and digital advocate for Wigan Council said: “As Digital Council of the Year, embracing digital technology is something we are very passionate about, encouraging people to start developing their digital skills from an early age. We want residents to make the most of being online and to be excited about new technology.

“Get Online Week in Wigan Borough will provide residents of all ages with opportunities to learn new skills such as coding, or brush up on their basic digital skills with access to the internet and emails.  There are a number of exciting sessions during the week, including iDEA drop-ins at Leigh Library and Wigan Library, giving people access to the Duke of York’s Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award, a national programme supporting people to develop digital and enterprise skills.”

As part of the iDEA award, you can sign up for free to achieve the iDEA Bronze award online – enter the code WIGAN2017 to earn the Digital Wigan badge.

Support on using Wigan Council’s MyAccount will also be available throughout the week, giving residents online access to a wide range of services such as council tax, housing rent, parking services and reporting issues.
