Come along and help West Lancashire Borough Council Parks and Countryside Rangers shape Tawd Valley Park into a wonderful haven for people and wildlife.
There will be a rolling programme of activities, called Team Tawd Eco Days, where you can learn new skills in a friendly social environment. Activities vary with the seasons but will include:
- Woodland Management (tree thinning, pruning)
- Vegetation control (pulling/strimming)
- Environmental improvements (river clearance, litter picking)
- Path clearance and creation (cutting back, digging, shovelling, installing edging and steps)
- Pond clearance and maintenance (planting, tree removal)
- Orchard creation (planting, pruning)
- Hedgerow creation and maintenance (planting, pruning, laying)
Sessions are currently running from 10am each Friday and from 6 October 2018, the first Saturday of each month.
If you are interested in joining in please meet at the turning circle at the end of Summer Street, Skelmersdale (postcode WN8 6XJ).

It is important to arrive promptly as the activity locations will vary from the meeting point. It is strongly recommended to wear suitable wet weather resistant clothing and robust footwear. Any Personal Protective Equipment required to carry out the various activities will be provided by the Rangers.
No experience or existing skills required as full instruction, equipment and guidance will be provided. Also it is recommended that you bring packed lunch if intending to stay for the full duration.
