The team behind the award-winning Foodie Friday in Stockport has announced plans to expand their operations to Huyton Village, in partnership with Knowsley Council, on the third Friday of each month throughout the summer. The dates confirmed so far are Friday 15th June, Friday 20th July and Friday 17th August, with the event taking place on Derby Road, from 4.30pm – 8pm. Free car parking is also available on the Archway Road car park.
The event in Stockport, which won the award for “Best Event” at the Manchester Food and Drink Festival in 2016, has fast become an unmissable event for local people, with thousands visiting Stockport Market each month to sample a unique combination of street food, craft ales and live music. Now the team has every intention to deliver the same transformational impact in Huyton with this exciting family friendly event.
“This is a really exciting opportunity,” said Joe Barratt, one of the event’s organisers. “We are looking forward to working with Knowsley Council to deliver an unmissable event for the people of Huyton. Our Foodie Friday events in Huyton Village will feature a number of street food traders, as well as an outside bar and a stage for live music.”
Currently confirmed for the event are Pizza Peddlers, SomTam Street, ArtiSam, Hungry Little Critters and Crepe Chateau. Also joining the line-up are Bexley’s Craft Butchers, selling a selection of cooked meat dishes, and the Body Branch, who will be selling cold pressed juices, both of which have stores in Huyton Village.
“Our Foodie Friday events are all about celebrating the independent spirit of the local community,” continues Joe, “We’d encourage any local people who might be interested in getting involved in the event, either as a street food trader or a performer, to get in touch. We would also like to hear from any local charity or community organisation who might want to be involved”, he added.
The launch of Foodie Friday in Huyton Village marks the beginning of a period of significant improvements for Huyton, with a number of developments planned over the coming years to enhance the retail, leisure and housing offer in and around the village centre.
Cllr Graham Morgan, Leader of Knowsley Council, said “I’m delighted to welcome Foodie Friday to Huyton, providing an opportunity for people to get together and sample good food, craft ales and live entertainment. The event supports Knowsley Better Together – bringing people and organisations together and providing an opportunity for family and friends to socialise. I hope people support this event and make it a huge success.”
