The Steve Prescott Bridge will be lit in the blue and green of Willowbrook Hospice tomorrow evening (5 July) to commemorate the charity’s 20th anniversary.

Based in Portico Lane, Prescot, Willowbrook Hospice has cared for over 7500 adults in St Helens and Knowsley with life-limiting illnesses – and has collected over £50m through grants and fundraising events since its establishment in 1997.

Speaking of her pride on Willowbrook being recognised in such a way, Fundraising Manager, Nicky Saunders, said: “It’s an honour and humbling that Willowbrook will be added to the many names and organisations to have touched this community by being honoured in lights before us.

“Most importantly we would like to thank the community for their support for the last twenty years; without each person and business in St Helens we would not be able to offer our special care free of charge. Each light will shine in memory of all those that have we have cared for, and also shine as a beacon of hope for the future.”

St Helens Council Leader, Barrie Grunewald, added: “For many years, Willowbrook Hospice has done incredible things for so many people – so I’m delighted that it will be at the centre of attention tomorrow evening when the Steve Prescott Bridge proudly displays this wonderful charity’s colours for thousands of people to see.”
