Bookhouse Games Café (Skelmersdale)

The Bookhouse Games Café is an exciting new event for people who want to unwind and play a variety of board games in a relaxed and friendly environment. We offer a whole range of different board games that anyone can wander in and play, with our recommendations if you don’t know what you want to do. Whether you’re a board game expert or just looking for a laugh, come in and try your hand at a new game!

Work Club (Skelmersdale) #LancsLearning

Tuesday, 10 April 2018 from 13:45 – 16:15 at Skelmersdale Library every Tuesday.

Work Clubs are two & a half hour sessions for up to six weeks for people who are actively seeking a job. You will get help and advice with covering letters and application forms and will be advised about relevant training opportunities and courses. We will show you how to use Universal JobMatch to search and apply for the latest jobs locally, nationally and abroad.

This session is free. Open to all adults over 19.

Trailblazers for ages 7-11 (Skelmersdale)

Reading is not just for school … it can be fun and take you to whole new worlds! (Plus, kids who read for fun do better at school as a bonus!)

If you’re in Year 3 to Year 6, love reading and talking about the books you’ve read, then come along to our monthly Trailblazers Reading Group. At the sessions, we have fun chatting about books, as well as quizzes, crafts and games. We also provide the refreshments.

If you’re interested in joining, come and talk to a member of staff at the library.

Toddler Rhyme Time (Skelmersdale)

Friday, 13 April 2018 from 10:00 – 10:30 at Skelmersdale Library every week – term time only

Sing-along songs and rhymes with movement and actions for pre-school children from around 18 months upwards. Rhyming is more than just fun, it actually helps young children make connections between sounds and words, encouraging their language development plus the actions help develop motor skills. It will keep your toddler entertained and engaged in learning!

A commemoration of the Suffrage Campaign (Skelmersdale) #VenusVoices #Vote100

Join Skelmersdale Library and “the sewing rooms” celebrating 100 years of the Suffrage movement and the right of Women to vote.
We will be using Text & Textiles to help create a banner reflecting the suffragette struggle of 100 years ago using the skills and voices of todays women.
