Lancashire Reading Journey presents…. The SCART Club
Come and join a safari ranger from Chester Zoo, who will be hosting “Leap for Lemurs”, a free family event featuring interactive workshops for children to take part in. Come to one, two or even better all three workshops! We look forward to seeing you on our mini safari around Madagascar via our Library.
Lancashire Libraries have launched their Summer Reading programme for 2018. This year the scheme is called The SCART Club and children will be invited to sign up at any Lancashire Library, for free.
SCART Club stands for Science, Culture, Active, Reading and Technology and 11 new characters have been created as members of the club; 10 boys and girls and the club’s mascot Scart Squirrel. Children from 5 – 12 years old are invited to come and discover these new characters by taking on the challenge at their local library.
Upon sign up each child will be presented with a task booklet, an A4 wallet and a blank name label for them to personalise.
There’ll be lots of activities taking place across all our libraries over the summer weeks, plus plenty of ideas to keep you entertained. So make sure you visit from the 30th June and start your Reading Journey!

Work Club (Skelmersdale) #LancsLearning #workclub

Work Clubs are two and a half hour sessions for up to six weeks for people who are actively seeking a job. You will get help and advice with covering letters and application forms and will be advised about relevant training opportunities and courses. We will show you how to use Find a job to search and apply for the latest jobs locally, nationally and abroad.
This session is free. Open to all adults over 19, but booking is required.

Toddler Rhyme Time (Skelmersdale)

Sing-along songs and rhymes with movement and actions for pre-school children from around 18 months upwards. Rhyming is more than just fun, it actually helps young children make connections between sounds and words, encouraging their language development plus the actions help develop motor skills. It will keep your toddler entertained and engaged in learning!
