Shakespeare Schools Festival 2018

0

Schools in Knowsley are taking part in the annual Shakespeare Schools Festival once again to celebrate Shakespeare and enjoy weeks of fun learning to perform some of his best work on a professional stage.

The festival, organised by Shakespeare Schools Foundation, is the world’s largest drama festival and it brings together around 30,000 young people from primary, secondary and special schools across the country. By taking part, young people can gain confidence and ambition, as well as improve literacy schools and teamwork.

Shakespeare Schools Festival is just one of the ways Knowsley enjoys keeping Shakespeare’s memory alive and celebrating its fascinating links with the famous playwright. In Elizabethan times, Prescot was the only English town outside of London to have a purpose-built indoor playhouse.

Eighteen Knowsley schools will be performing nine popular Shakespeare stories at Knowsley Leisure and Culture Park from 19 to 23 November 2018.
