Children and families from across the borough gathered at St Helens Central Library, as the author of the wildly popular children’s book series ‘Pugalugs’ ticked off another date on her libraries tour.

Local author, Jessica Parish brought her two adorable pugs, Pugalugs and Dug, the cute and cuddly stars of the picture books, to Central Library for a fun-filled activity afternoon, including book readings and crafts.

Copies of the books were available to buy, and many enthusiastic young fans were treated to autographs and of course a cuddle with the pug protagonists.

Illustrator Helen Poole was also present to talk about her work and help with Pugalugs related arts and crafts workshops with the children. Her depictions of the delightfully boggle-eyed pups have become firm favourites of children across the country.

What’s more, if you missed the date at Central Library, there are still many more opportunities to meet the people and pooches behind the book. The remaining dates are as follows:

25 August – Rainhill Library, 2-3pm*
7 September – Peter Street Library, 3:30-4:30pm
22 September – Moss Bank Library, 3:30-4:30pm
27 October – Thatto Heath Library, 2:30-3:30pm*
16 November – Rainford Library, 3:30-4:30
7 December – Parr Library, 3:30-4:30pm

*Illustrator Helen Poole will also be attending this event.
