Potential witness to Lytham collision sought

We are trying to trace a driver who may have witnessed a fatal collision in St Annes earlier this month.

At around 10:55pm on Sunday 1 May a Vauxhall Astra was being driven along Clifton Drive South. As it has entered the crossroad junction with St Annes Road West, it has collided with the man who was crossing the road.

The pedestrian, an 18-year-old man from St Annes, sadly died later in hospital.

We are asking the driver of a silver or light coloured five door hatchback car which overtook a Blackpool Transport bus at the bus stop on the approach to St Anne’s Square, before turning left into St Anne’s Road West towards The Crescent just prior to this incident occurring, to come forward.

PC 3864 Stuart Parry from the Roads Policing Unit said: “We know that a car, possibly a Ford Focus or similar, has been travelling in the place where the incident occurred just before it happened.

“I would like to reassure the driver that we know they weren’t involved, this is just about seeing whether they may have witnessed something that could assist with our investigation.”

If you think that this was you, please call us on 101 quoting incident reference 1359 of May 1st.
