An investigation has been launched by police following a fail to stop collision in Astley. The incident took place at about 12:40pm on Saturday 6th June 2015, when a 30 year old woman had been about to cross Manchester Road at the zebra crossing, close to the junction of Higher Green Lane, when a motorbike has come around the corner and has collided with her. The rider has fallen off his bike, but has then got back on the bike before driving off.

The woman has suffered injuries to her leg, stomach and ribs and is being treated in hospital.

The motorcyclist has been described as wearing all blue leathers and a white helmet. The bike has been described as being an off-road style bike.

Police Constable Mike Bradley of the Road Policing Unit said ‘A woman has been left seriously injured after the collision and the rider of the motorbike left without calling an ambulance for her.

‘We believe that four motorcyclists were riding in the area together at the time and I would urge anyone who saw the collision or the motorbikes around the time of the collision, to speak to police immediately.’

Police have made an appeal for witnesses and they have asked for anybody who saw what happened to get in touch with police on 0161 856 6173, or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
