Warrington Borough Council has scooped £100,000 in grant funding towards two separate park developments.

Funding towards projects at Poulton Crescent Play Area, Woolston Park, and at Liverpool Road Recreation ground has been awarded by WREN’s FCC Community Action Fund. The rest of the funding for the schemes is being contributed by the Council.

At Poulton Crescent, Woolston Park the money will provide a refurbished younger children’s play area providing exciting new play equipment. At Liverpool Road the younger children’s play area will also be replaced and there will be an outdoor gym for adults to get active in the outdoors.

The projects are being developed and will be put out for tender. The works will be starting on site in Autumn 2016.

Cllr Tony Higgins, executive board member for culture leisure and community, said: “Thanks to WREN we can give our community better facilities at both of these sites. The works will provide a boost for local people living in these areas.”

Richard Smith, WREN’s grant manager for Warrington and Halton, says: “We’re delighted to be supporting these projects and pleased our funding will provide such a fantastic facility for young people across Warrington. WREN is always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a difference to local communities and we’re really looking forward to seeing these take shape soon.”
