Ormskirk MotorFest Concours de Elegance

0

Some of the most beautiful cars that will be on display at the Ormskirk MotorFest on Sunday 30 August will take part in a fantastic competition to really add something special to the event.

This year organisers of the MotorFest, which is one of the biggest free family events in the North West of England, are setting up a Concours de Elegance competition as a major new attraction. This will see some of the most superb cars and motorcycles at the MotorFest lined up in a special area in Coronation Park, where judges will cast their expert eye over them. Winners will be selected in each of the 13 classes along with an overall winner.

Ormskirk MotorFest is organised by Aintree Circuit Club and supported by West Lancashire Borough Council.

The Concours de Elegance is being sponsored by Halsall-based Carequick Ltd Air Conditioning, which specialises in building services, air conditioning and mechanical maintenance.

Colin Maxwell, Carequick Ltd managing director, said: “I’m a keen motoring enthusiast and I’ve entered a car into the Ormskirk MotorFest for the last three years. The first year I had a TVR S2 in display and for the last two years I have put in a Porsche 911 Targa. So as a local businessman I thought it would be good to support the MotorFest by providing some sponsorship for this exciting new event for the MotorFest.”

Councillor John Hodson, Council portfolio holder for Planning, said: “The Ormskirk MotorFest is always a fantastic free day out for all the family, so make sure you don’t miss this wonderful event. The Concours de Elegance will be a great addition to all the superb attractions which are being lined up for a really enjoyable day for everyone who comes along, and I am sure we will see some beautiful cars on display. We are really grateful to Colin at Carequick for sponsoring the Concours de Elegance.”

Mike Ashcroft, chairman of Aintree Circuit Club, said: “We are really excited about the Concours de Elegance which will give us and the vehicle owners the chance to show off some of the most beautiful cars at the MotorFest in a really special way.

“Some superb vehicles are brought to the MotorFest which would be worthy winners of a Concours de Elegance at any motoring event, and we believe this will add a great competition element to the day.”

The 13 classes in the Concours de Elegance will include a special class for cars from 1955 to mark the 60th anniversary of the first British Grand Prix at Aintree Circuit Club and the 60th anniversary of the first MGA car. There will also be a class for supercars with top speeds of 175mph and above. Judges will include Neville Hay, a well-known motorsport broadcaster, commentator and historian.

To enter the Concours de Elegance cars must also be entered for the MotorFest displays as a whole. To enter your vehicle in the MotorFest and the Concours de Elegance please visit www.ormskirkmotorfest.com. It is free to put your vehicle into the general MotorFest display, but entry into the Concours de Elegance costs £10.

Cars and motorcycles not taking part in the Concours De Elegance will also be lined up in Coronation Park and streets across Ormskirk town centre. Between 250 and 300 fabulous cars and motorcycles from all eras of motoring will be in display and many of them will take part in exciting parade laps around the town centre.

You can help the Ormskirk MotorFest to continue to be a major attraction by sponsoring the 2015 event. Organisers are looking at a number of ways sponsors can become involved in MotorFest.
