Marsh Green Library and Life Centre set for refurbishment

0

Library and Life Centre services in Marsh Green are set to combine to create a more flexible customer service offer for residents as part of an upcoming refurbishment.

The changes come as part of wider developments within libraries across Wigan Borough, transforming and enhancing customer service delivery, shaped by feedback from local residents.

In order to complete the transformation, Marsh Green Library will be closed from Monday 11th September for three weeks.

Computer access and Life Centre services will still be available during this time, with four computers available in an alternative location within the current building.

Opening times for this temporary service will be Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 9am-2pm and Thursday and Friday 12pm-5pm.

Lesley O’Halloran, Wigan Council’s assistant director for customer services said:

“We’re created a more rounded and easier to use offer at Marsh Green by combining the library and Life Centre into one functional space.

There will be no impact on the customer service offer; in fact this will help to enhance our delivery of customer services by creating a more rounded experience.

“The changes have been shaped following a recent public consultation to create easier access under one roof, and will also contribute towards the £1.4million savings target assigned to customer services.”

Library users wishing to return books can access any library in the borough, with the closest located at Wigan Life Centre and Lamberhead Green.

Renewals can continue to be made online.

Online access is also available for Life Centre services through the Report It app and My Account, and payments can be made online at www.wigan.gov.uk/payit or by calling 01942 489006, 24 hours a day.
