Man suffers broken leg following attack in Chorley

Lancashire Police are appealing for information after a man had his leg broken following an assault outside a pub in Chorley.

The incident happened at around 12.10am on Sunday, August 13 outside the Minstrel pub on Eaves Green Road.

A man punched the 51 year old victim to the head causing him to fall to the floor. When the victim stood up, the man kicked him to the leg.

The victim suffered a badly broken leg and was taken for treatment at Royal Preston Hospital.

Detectives are now appealing for witnesses to the attack and are keen to trace a man and woman who were sitting on the wall of the pub before getting into a taxi and may have witnessed the attack.

DC Ian Lightfoot said: “This was a vicious attack on the victim causing him a serious leg injury which will require an operation. We are keen to hear from anyone who was at the scene at the time and saw what happened.

“We are especially keen to trace the man and woman who were sitting on the wall and may have witnessed the attack.

“If you have any information that could assist with our enquiries I would urge you to contact us as soon as possible.”
A 25 year old man from Chorley was arrested on suspicion of assault and has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
