Love is quite literally in the air for all the family at Chorley’s Market Walk throughout February and into March as the shopping centre unveiled a giant willow love heart display in preparation for Valentine’s, half term and Mother’s Day.

The huge red heart has been brought in by the shopping centre, which is owned and managed by Chorley Council, as an art attraction and visitors are encouraged to take their pictures with it and post them on social media.

Anyone who shares their picture on Market Walk’s Facebook and Twitter pages with an explanation of why their mum is so special will be entered into the free draw to win a Mother’s Day gift from Market Walk and Boots.

This February half term there will also be a special treat for shoppers with children as they will get to meet and have their picture taken with a variety of animals, reptiles and creepy crawlies in Market Walk’s activity shop on Thursday 18 February.

From 10am until 4pm, brave youngsters can meet everything from snakes to lizards to creepy crawlies and even a skunk and also have their faces painted as part of Market Walk’s free February half term family fun day.

Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council, owners of Market Walk, said: “The shops in Market Walk have been busy preparing some big offers and promotions for Valentine’s, half term and Mother’s Day and we wanted to support that with family activities and a huge art display.

“The giant love heart is already attracting a lot of attention and we hope it will bring people into town to take a look and pick up everything they need for Valentine’s and Mother’s Day from Market Walk’s wide variety of shops.

“We’ve also got an added incentive with people being encouraged to take and share their pictures with our love heart on Market Walk’s social media pages to be in with a chance of winning a brilliant present for their mum for Mother’s Day.

“We also recognise the importance of keeping the younger ones entertained during the school holidays and we hope the opportunity to meet some wild animals and have the kids’ faces painted for free will buy a little time for parents and enable them to get their shopping done.”
