Hooray for Winter Playday

0

Chorley Town Hall was filled with laughter and play on Saturday as over 500 children and families came along to enjoy a full day of fun and games at Chorley Council’s annual Winter Playday.

Families from across Chorley filled their day with activities like arts and crafts, video games, circus skills, Punch and Judy shows and much more. The children also had a surprise visit from the Mayor of Chorley, Councillor Marion Lowe, who joined in the play on the day.

The Winter Playday is organised by Chorley Council every year and is aimed at promoting play time and giving families the opportunity to find out about support groups and enjoy a free day out.

Children who attended also took part in a special creative activity decorating recycled bicycles which will be used along the Chorley Grand Prix route in the forthcoming weeks.

Plus parents got the chance to find out about the help and support groups that are available across Chorley for children.

Councillor Bev Murray, who oversees children’s activities at Chorley Council, said: “We are delighted to see so many families coming out to enjoy our free playday with many of them staying most of the day and commenting on how much fun they have had.

“Winter Playday is a great opportunity to enjoy a free day and find out some useful information on local support services and we would like to thank all the support groups that came along.

“We’re keen to have as many children as possible taking part in Chorley Council’s Get Up and Go activities and I would encourage those who have not yet taken part to attend some of the activities we put on all year round.”

Chorley Council’s Get Up and Go scheme offers lots of play opportunities across the borough all year round. To find out more visit chorley.gov.uk/getupandgo or pick up a copy of the next What’s Happening Magazine out in March.
