Dog owners and their pets can come along to a free event organised by Dogs Trust and West Lancashire Borough Council at Evermoor Hub, Birleywood, Skelmersdale, on Monday 27 November from 11am-3pm.
A veterinary nurse will be available to carry out health checks on dogs including nail clipping, weight, teeth, eyes and ears to make sure they are happy, fit and healthy.
Dogs Trust will also provide free microchipping for dogs that are not yet chipped, subject to availability, and advice on diet, training and neutering.
By law all dogs must be microchipped and the owners details kept up to date. Advice will be provided on whether owners need to change the details on pets already chipped.
Each owner will be offered useful information packs on practising responsible dog ownership which includes handy tips and useful resources.
Free goodie packs are also available for puppy owners and those thinking of getting a puppy.
Councillor Kevin Wright, portfolio holder for Health and Community Safety, said: “I would encourage all dog owners to come along to this event where their beloved pet can get a free health check and they can also find out more about responsible dog ownership.”
All puppies attending the event need to be fully vaccinated. For full terms and conditions of Dogs Trust community events please visit www.dogstrust.org.uk/help-advice/community-events.
