Families are invited to grab their winter coats and make their way to Fazakerley Street for some festive fun while shopping in Chorley town centre this year.
Chorley Council has organised some festive fairground rides in the town centre providing something for all of the family, including a 44 foot helter skelter, small children’s rides, tasty Christmas food, unique Christmas decorations and a cosy seating area.
Councillor Peter Wilson, Deputy Leader of Chorley Council said: “Christmas is well and truly on its way and we are doing our best to remind people that Chorley town centre is a great place to visit and do your Christmas shopping.
“We had our annual Christmas light switch on which welcomed crowds of people into the town and we also had Astley Illuminated which saw Astley Hall join in on the festive celebrations.
“Now we are very excited to have a festive attraction in the town centre from this Saturday, 2 December, which we hope will be plenty of fun for families in or visiting the area.
“The attraction will include a 44 foot helter skelter which can be enjoyed by all of the family, two fairground rides, delicious Christmas food, Christmas gifts and a cosy gazebo area filled with seating and blankets.
“We hope that many will join in with the festive fun on Fazakerley Street and celebrate Christmas with their families.”
Chorley Council has put on a Christmas attraction each year in the town centre and this year they hope to provide visitors with a festive family treat while they are shopping.
Located on Fazakerley Street in Chorley town centre, visitors are able to enjoy the festive family fun while out shopping in the many independent retailers, on Chorley Markets or the various high street shops.
The festive fun will begin on Saturday 2 December at 10am and will be open until 6pm on Christmas Eve, Sunday 24 December. Opening days and times are as follows; Monday-Wednesday 12pm-6pm, Thursday-Friday 12pm-8pm, Saturday 10am-8pm and Sunday 10am-6pm.
Plus if you’re shopping in Market Walk on Saturdays, the Art Venturers will be offering free Christmas arts and crafts, Father Christmas has installed his post box ready for your Christmas lists and letters and there will also be Christmas street entertainers with the Christmas Waiters on 9 December and The Jacks of Frost on the 23 December.
Visitors travelling by car are reminded that Chorley Council has created more car parking spaces for the busy Christmas period which means that Chorley has more spaces than ever before. Some spaces have been re-opened on the Flat Iron car park and there are additional spaces on other car parks in the town centre including Hollinshead Street. Visitors can also use the free park and ride service which runs every Tuesday and Saturday from Woodlands and Morrisons to Union Street (outside Booths) every 15 minutes.
