Excitement builds for Knowsley Education Awards

An awards ceremony dedicated to celebrating the successes of Knowsley’s schools, pupils, teachers, governors and support staff takes place this week.

The Knowsley Education Awards, which take place on Wednesday, 27 June, will highlight achievements across the borough’s schools, honouring and rewarding the many examples of excellent practice, as well as showcasing the talent, ambition and dedication of everyone involved in education in Knowsley.

A total of 14 awards will be on offer, in the following categories:

* Outstanding Achievement (Primary)

* Outstanding Achievement (Secondary)

* Outstanding Achievement (Special)

* Apprentice of the Year

* Innovation of the Year

* Teacher of the Year

* Team of the Year

* Senior Leadership Team of the Year

* Governing Body of the Year

* Outstanding Contribution to School Life

* Outstanding Performance of the Year

* Outstanding Employer/Education Initiative of the Year

* Most Inspiring School of the Year (Primary)

* Most Inspiring School of the Year (Secondary)

Cllr Margaret Harvey, Knowsley Council’s Cabinet Member for Children’s Services, said: “Knowsley has a lot to be proud of when it comes to education – as anyone who has spent time in one of our schools will know.

“We have some fantastically dedicated teachers and school support staff, pupils with incredible success stories to tell and some really exceptional examples of best practice.

“Being able to celebrate all that at these new awards is wonderful – not only does it shine the spotlight on those who so much deserve it, it’s also a great way for everyone in the borough to say a big ‘thank you’, too.”

The Knowsley Education Awards will bring together Knowsley Council, Knowsley’s Education Commission, local schools, pupils, families, teachers, governors all working collectively in the spirit of ‘Knowsley Better Together’ www.knowsley.gov.uk/business/what-is-knowsley-better-together .

The ceremony will take place at The University of Liverpool’s Leggate Theatre, in the heart of Liverpool’s Knowledge Quarter. It is a setting chosen to inspire any pupil nominees who may be considering higher education.
