Get your ration books and tins of spam and join Mayor of West Lancashire Councillor Nikki Hennessy for an evening of war time music and songs.

Aughton Village Hall will be turned into an Olde Time Music Hall for a VE Day Celebration Evening on Saturday 7 November 2015, starting at 7pm.

The evening has been arranged by local music teacher Eunice Woof, MBE. There will be a wide range of performers singing memorable songs such as “We’ll meet again”, “Wish me luck as you wave me goodbye” and “Lilli Marlene”.

Tickets are £10 and include a hotpot supper followed by apple pie and cream. There will be a cash bar. All proceeds will go to the Mayor’s charities which are the Alzheimer’s Society in West Lancashire and Lancashire Young Carers, which is funded by Barnardo’s, Lancashire County Council and local health authorities. So you are invited to dig deep and come along to this enjoyable evening which is helping two very worthy causes.

Councillor Hennessy said: “I am really grateful to the organisers of this wonderful event, and the concert will be particularly poignant as it is being held on the Saturday evening before Remembrance Sunday.”

Tickets can be purchased from Eunice Woof on 01695 422482 or from Ann England 01695 585033.
