Following on from a two week artist residency in St Helens Libraries, Iain Stringer Works will be premiering a new show at St.Helens Central Library to tie in with LGBT (lesbian, gay bisexual and trans) History Month 2017. Prevail is an exciting mix of dance and theatre exploring issues around homosexuality, pride and acceptance.

A dying father is cared for by his two devoted sons. One of his sons is a judge. It’s his duty as judge to put those who threaten society’s order on trial and place them in the public stocks.

We see the judge trial two men whose faces are hidden by sacks, but as they reach the stocks the judge wants their faces revealed. Who are they? The judge is publicly horrified and seeks help from his dying father. But will he listen to a dying man’s advice?

The two performances on Friday 24 February are suitable audiences aged 13+, and tickets cost £6, £5 (St.Helens library card holders) and £3 (concessions). Prevail is brought to Central Library at 1pm (sold out) and 7pm as part of the National Lottery Award-winning Cultural Hubs – Arts in Libraries programme.

To save your space for the 7pm showing, book online at www.culturalhubs.eventbrite.co.uk or call into any St Helens library for tickets.

Cultural Hubs is supported using public funding by the National Lottery through Arts Council England and allows St Helens Council to enliven the borough’s network of libraries with performances, plays, gigs, workshops, courses, events and exhibitions.

If you haven’t already, sign up to the monthly Cultural Hubs e-zine via www.sthelens.gov.uk/arts or follow the team on Twitter @sthelensarts to see all the latest news and events.
