New cycle hire station

0

If you fancy using pedal power to make your way round Ormskirk and to explore the surrounding area, then make sure you take advantage of the new cycle hire station in the town centre.

VISIT Sefton and West Lancashire has installed an automated cycle hire point at Ormskirk bus station and it is available for anyone to use.

Bikes can be taken from one docking station and deposited at any other in West Lancashire, providing there is space. The other cycle hire stations are at The Ship at Lathom, Riverside Holiday Park in Banks and two at Edge Hill University.

The bikes can be hired from as little as £1 per hour (a minimum charge applies). All you need to hire a bike is a mobile phone and a credit or debit card.

Councillor Ian Moran, West Lancashire Borough Council Leader and portfolio holder for Economic Regeneration, said: “The new cycle hire point at the bus station in Ormskirk will make it easy for residents and visitors to hop on a bike – whether for business or pleasure. We hope people will take advantage of the cycle hire scheme and visit the many fabulous attractions the borough has to offer.”

Helmets are not provided and people should bring their own if they want one. There is no legal requirement to wear a helmet when riding a bike on a public highway or footpath. However cyclists are strongly recommended to do so.

More information on cycle hire can be found at www.visitseftonandwestlancs.co.uk along with a variety of themed cycle route maps which can be downloaded and information on great days out in the area.
