Police have launched an investigation after a large amount of cash was stolen from a pensioner in Morecambe.
Officers were called to an address in Trumley Court around 7.40pm on Saturday, June 11, following reports of a burglary.
Between 7.20pm and 7.30pm, a man had approached the property and spoken to the 84-year-old homeowner before leaving.
A short time later, the male returned, walking into the house and taking the victim’s handbag in the lounge before making off.
The thief took a black square handbag containing bank cards, a black oval purse with a large amount of money.
He is described white, of medium build, with short blonde hair.
Police are keen to trace the man as well as a Volkswagen Passat seen in the area at the time of the theft.
Det Con Gillian Topping, of Lancaster CID, said: “We are appealing for information after an 84-year-old woman was the victim of a burglary in Morecambe.
“This was a particularly callous act, with the offender entering the female’s home and stealing her handbag from next to her.
“We believe the thief may have left the area in a Volkswagen Passat with blacked out windows and would like to speak to anyone who saw this vehicle close to Trumley Court.”
