Appeal made after man is attacked in his own home with a wooden bat

0

An appeal for information has been made by police after a man was attacked with a wooden bat in his own home, by a thief who had been wearing a balaclava. At 12:45am on Saturday 8th August 2015, a man who was wearing a balaclava, burst into the home of a 33 year old man on Park Lane in Abram and has confronted the man with a wooden bat. The offender has then pushed the man onto the sofa before attacking him; he has hit him on the head with the bat, before fleeing the house with money which he has stolen. He was last seen running up Warrington Road.

The man has been described as being white, just under 6ft tall, of stocky build and was wearing a face covering.

Detective Constable Lee Jamieson of Wigan division said ‘This violent attack left a man with a serious head injury. The thief was so desperate for cash he didn’t care who he hurt in the process. I would urge anyone who saw the attacker, entering of leaving the house, or who has any information about who may be behind it to contact police.’

Anybody who has got any information can get in touch with police on 0161 856 7225 or the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
