Appeal following attempted cash in transit robbery in Blackburn

0

We are appealing for information following an attempted cash in transit robbery which occurred this morning (Wednesday) in Blackburn.

We were called at approximately 7.30am to the Three Arches Service Station on Preston Old Road to reports two offenders armed with a crowbar and a sledgehammer had attempted to gain access to an ATM machine as it was being replenished by security guards.

It is believed the men then made off from the scene empty-handed in a waiting car, driven by a third offender, believed to be a grey Mercedes A-class bearing the registration number MT65 KLV.

We are now trying to establish the circumstances surrounding this incident and in particular would like to trace the car used to transport the offenders.

Detective Sergeant Ian Procter said: “We are still trying to establish exactly what happened this morning and are appealing for anybody who saw the incident, or has any information about it, to get in touch with us.

“We would particularly like to trace the vehicle used by the offenders and would like to hear from anybody who saw a car matching this description in the vicinity of Preston Old Road between 7am and 8am this morning.”

Anybody with information is asked to contact police on 101, quoting log number 175 of October 5th. Alternatively independent charity Crimestoppers can be reached anonymously on 0800 555 111 or at crimestoppers-uk.org.
