Appeal made following arson in Neston

Police officers have made an appeal for witnesses after a suspected arson at an address in Neston. Officers discovered the fire at approximately 11:15pm on Saturday 7th February 2015, in the communal area of a small block of flats on the High Street in Neston.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene and they extinguished the fire quickly, one resident was treated for smoke inhalation.

Detective Constable Tim Cope from Ellesmere Port and Neston CID said ‘I would like to appeal to anyone who was in the area between 10.30pm and 11.15pm on Saturday and believes they may have seen anything suspicious to contact Cheshire Police on 101 quoting incident number 916 of 7/2/2015. Alternatively information can also be reported anonymously to Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111’.

A 49-year-old man has been arrested by officers in relation to the incident; he has been released on bail and is due to report to officers on 20/2/2015.
