Adult learners and groups rewarded at town hall ceremony

0

As part of Adult Learners’ Week, a special event was held at St Helens Town Hall to celebrate adult learners and voluntary groups in St Helens

The event, organised by St Helens Council’s Adult and Community Learning (ACL) team, acknowledged the dedication of adult learners and voluntary groups who have taken positive steps to enrich the lives of themselves and others by gaining qualifications and skills to improve their job prospects or learning new skills to improve the quality of their life – and by supporting their local community.

ACL works closely with a range of partners – Helena, Arts Service, Community Centres and schools – to bring learning to the heart of the local community. The work and dedication of these partners were also celebrated.

St Helens Council’s Cabinet Member for Public Health and Wellbeing, Andy Bowden was in attendance to hand out certificates and quick to praise those involved.

“I have great admiration for the people and groups who take the time out of their busy lifestyles to prove that learning doesn’t have to end when you finish school, college or university.

“By getting involved with adult learning courses, you are providing yourself and others with a great opportunity to discover something new, develop new skills and grow in confidence.”
