A Pandemonium of Poe at Lancaster Castle

Lancaster Castle is the setting for an eerie evening performance this month.

A Pandemonium of Poe is being performed on Wednesday 19 September, at 7.30pm. It is directed by Jonathan Goodwin and Gary Archer.

The production is based on the stories of Edgar Allan Poe. Poe is best known for his poetry and short stories, particularly his tales of mystery and the macabre.

Edgar is also an editor and a literary critic, and the performance promises an evening of unsettling atmosphere.

County Councillor Peter Buckley, Lancashire County Council’s cabinet member for community and cultural services, said: “I’m delighted that we are staging a performance based on some of the works of such a first-class story-teller.

“I expect that this performance will be a real treat for Poe lovers and great scary entertainment for everyone. I’m sure that the audience will be drawn into the atmosphere.

“This will be a fantastic show that is perfect for people seeking an entertaining evening out, set in the wonderful historic backdrop of Lancaster Castle.”

Tickets cost £6 for adults and £5.00 for concessions and children.

Ticket numbers are limited so booking is essential. To book a ticket, to find out about opening times or for more information phone 01524 64998 or call in at the castle shop between 9.30am to 4.30pm.

Wheelchair access is very limited, so it is advisable to contact the ticket office about this before buying a ticket.

The performance is also not suitable for visitors under 15.
